Today will be a sad day for Billinge FC as it will be The Gaffer Wayne Wardle's final game as manager.

Wayne has made the difficult decision to call it a day after three years at the club.
On behalf of the committee I would like to thank him for all the hard work he has put in and the professionalism he has brought to the club.
It has been a difficult few years for all football clubs - what with the pandemic - and it was no different for Billinge.
But, Wayne and his management team were superb throughout the crisis, helping his players off the pitch keeping spirits high, doing numerous jobs up at Barrows Farm and remaining positive at all times.
When we actually got on the pitch results were excellent as we finished seventh in both curtailed seasons and in the latter season were knocked out of the cup on penalties in the semi-final.
This season was always going to be difficult as we lost players to other clubs during pre-season and so it has proved.

So a final thanks to not just The Gaffer but also his assistant Ryan Miller and goalkeeper coach Mark Power: All three have been absolutely fantastic for the club but more importantly they are real football people and great lads who have become good friends to the committee.
Hopefully, we will finish Wayne's reign with a good performance and take the three points from today's match versus Congleton Town Reserves.

As a football club we have been in existence for more than 30 years and as custodians of the club we intend to continue for another 30 years and more.
Bearing this in mind, we are now accepting applications for the first team manager's job and all details will follow in our next news article.
