SUPERB WIN FOR THE CHESHIRE FOOTBALL LEAGUE IN THE ISLE OF MAN

On Saturday The Cheshire Football League's Representative side beat the Isle of Man 2-1 courtesy of two Nathan Southern of Crewe FC goals.

As a club we are extremely proud to have two players in the squad: Kieran Halliday - who was the replacement goalkeeper and our own captain Chris Cottington who played the full ninety minutes.
Both lads represented our club brilliantly and deserve all the praise and after-match beer.
The team was managed by Garswood United manager Nick Dunn and included two other local players, Danny Clarke and Elliot Morris who play for Garswood and Winstanley Warriors respectively. No mean feat for those two players - and their clubs - as they compete in the Cheshire Football League Division One whilst all other players were from the Premier Division.
It was the Cheshire lads that took lead in this FA Inter-League Cup game - from the penalty spot - through Southern and then the same player got the second when his deflected flick found its way into the goal to give the away side a two-goal cushion at half-time.
Alex Harrison headed home to halve the deficit on the hour mark and then the home side threw everything they had at the Cheshire team but some great defending meant they beat the Manxmen 2-1 and avenged the 9-1 defeat that the Isle of Man inflicted on them the last time the sides met.
It was then just left for the side and management to celebrate late into the night.
A massive achievement for everybody involved in what appeared to be a brilliantly organised trip.
The reward for the Cheshire Football League is a home tie against the Yorkshire Amateur Association Football League's representative side, to be played before 30 November.
Let's hope we can go all the way
