It was however really hard luck on the Ressies as they were down to just 13 players with six regulars missing through holidays, injuries and work commitments.
The gaffers called on six u18s to start the game.
This is a big ask but the youngsters rose to the challenge playing with no fear. Jay Parkin, Elliot Twigg, Joe Ratcliffe, Adam Dickinson,Dan Hague and Billy Longshaw wore the Billinge shirt with pride brought along by the experienced and captain for the evening Geoff Parr.
If their were any worries from the sidelines it wasn't necessary as the youngsters showed that the future of Billinge FC is very rosy as they went in at half-time two-nil ahead thanks to goals from Terry Jepson and Elliot Bradshaw.
Greenalls were shell-shocked but this was no fluke as Billinge more than deserved their two goal lead.
Billinge were expecting a reaction from the champions in the second-half and for the second 45 minutes they threw everything at us.
Adam Dickinson had to come off again with a recurring knee problem while the midfield covered every blade of grass to keep them out with the defence with Tom Hull in goal working overtime.
Greenalls got their rewards scoring two goals taking it level and with five minutes to go Dan Campbell came off with an ankle injury and with no subs left meant with just ten men we were destroyed by an injury time goal to give Greenalls a 3-2 victory.
After the game joint manager Paul Farrell said: "Myself and Keith couldn't have asked for more from the lads who gave everything in this very entertaining game.
"Everyone played their part in a magnificent performance that deserved at least a share of the points."
