This Saturday there is just the one game for Billinge Football Club and it's a big one!
With the first team's game at Daten FC being postponed due to Daten's involvement in the LFA Amateur Shield attention shifts to our reserve side who play their first competitive match of the season.
As well as being the first competitive game it is the first game in the revamped Reserve Division Challenge Cup with the early stages being played on a group basis.
We have been drawn in a group with Golborne Sports Reserves, Lostock Gralam Reserves and Middlewich Town (playing each home and away), and start this Saturday when The Grey Lambs' Reserves visit Barrows Farm.
With the new format and new divisions within the Cheshire Football League Reserve set-up, it means that the season has started a month later than normal, and all the teams will now be raring to go.
As a club, we are certainly ready to go with our reserve players chomping at the bit to get started.
We can safely say Lostock Gralam will be exactly the same as Scott Lodge and Rob Campbell bring a brand new team to Billinge, the club having not run a reserve team in the Cheshire League last term.
Baring this in mind there is not a lot to go on but this is cup football where anything can happen anyway.
Suffice to say it has all the hallmarks of being a belter of a game.
Kick-off is 3pm and if you haven't been before you can find us at:
Billinge Community Sports Centre
Barrows Farm
Carr Mill Road
Billinge
WN5 7TX
Admission is free and the café will be open for hot and cold snacks.
With no first-team fixture let's get a decent crowd down to cheer on our young lads as we commence on what we hope will be a successful and rewarding season!
