MATCH REPORT BY DAY LAWRO
The past few months have been very testing for the Billinge Managment team. After losing 43 players at the end of last season we were facing a real threat of folding .
With a never-say-die attitude - and thankful support from everyone involved with the club especially the players who stayed behind - the Ressies managed to get our season underway today playing for the first time since June.
And what a performance it was. Dominating the first-half and going 1-0 up we were a pleasure to watch. Comfortable in possession and creating many chances the only things that was missing was the absence of more goals.
Credit to Warbreck, they came out with a fighting spirit in the second half and tested the character of our lads.
We conceded an early goal then ten minutes later conceded a harsh penalty which knocked the wind out of the lads.
Heavy legs set in but we kept fighting on, creating some real chances to retake the lead but it just wasn't to be losing the game 3-1.
Before the game, we were expecting to take a hiding but myself and the lads were buzzing with the performance and believe we have something real special to build upon.
Moving to the Liverpool County Premier League was a massive decision for the club. We came here today as the unknowns but after the performance we believe our introduction to Division 1 will be heard throughout the league.
